MUGA sports pitches or ballcourts often flood due to the attack of a fungal substance. These substances are often called algal squidge, sporn, mud and moss and they take place when the sports surface like astro turf synthetic all weather sand infilled / sand dressed artificial grass, polymeric EPDM recycled rubber or asphalt tar macadam become overly moist and damp and not properly maintained and the squidge will develop over time.
The sporn, can block the sports pitch porosity and therefore lose the system drainage capability and the surface will flood and become slippy. The rejuvenation, upgrading, renovation and sport surface regeneration of these surfaces will bring the sports pitch back to their best and perform as specified and designed. ATP / STP pitches will need to have the contaminated sand removed, and it does not matter what size or location the sports court is for this to happen.
We have completed these maintenance works on multi use games areas with dimensions / sizes of 35m x 15m to 95m x 50m and these systems can allows sports like football, rugby, netball and hockey to be played. The removal of the contaminated sand takes place with an air compressor or jet wash and the bad sand is removed and taken away from the MUGA. New clean sand is then installed to specified depths of the carpet like 15 – 19mm for sand dressed and 20 – 24mm for sand filled.
Other maintenance works can take place on the sports systems like the replacement, upgrade or revitalisation of the game line markings, seam or joint repairs of the grass, patch repairs or general surface deep cleaning.
