Polyethylene Synthetic Turf Sport Pitch Surfaces is a foamy material polyethylene system. It is infilled with sand for sports pitches which makes the whole system a 2G synthetic sports surface which is ideal for multi sports including football, tennis, basketball, netball and athletics.
However more recently a 3G sports surface has been designed which is a rubber infill sports grass and the third generation pitch has great playing characteristics for rugby and football.
Polyethylene Turf Specification
The polyethylene fibres and yarns are waxy and usually more densely packed into the backing for the outdoor carpet sports surface. The polyethylene fibres when infilled with rubber and sand offer protection to the players from falls and injuries. They are all weather surfaces that many 5-a-side football league and 7-a-side footy leagues play on. The astroturf sports surfacing is uprgaded and renovated after approximately 15 years. So it gets a lot of use and can generate serious revenue when rented out if it is a floodlit sports pitch.
