Cushioned Athletics Tartan Rubber Sports Surfaces is installed to many athletics track and field facilities. The governing bodies of sports such as the IAAF and UK Athletics have specifications designed for these types of surfacing throughout the UK to meet playing characteristics for the athletes.
The cushioned polymeric surface is made up of SBR rubber crumb chippings which is recycled truck tyres, virgin epdm rubber in a variety of colours but the most common is red epdm, blue epdm and green epdm, which is all mixed in a continuous mixer on site with a PU adhesive which is called a moisture cure single pack polyurethane binder. Basically the second part of the material on the binder is the water molecules in the atmosphere that the binder pulls from the humidity to cure on site.
The polymeric athletics surfacing is installed on site and laid insitu to any depth and shape. They are installed to athletics tracks, long jump runway, triple jump run ups and high jump fans. They are also laid onto multi use games areas for football, tennis, basketball and netball.
