5th generation rubber crumb pitches are being passed about by powerleague to be installed on all their pitches and actually states ‘You’ll find 8 fully floodlit 5-a-side pitches – all featuring the same FIFA approved 5th generation rubber-crumb playing surface you’ll find at many top clubs.’
I am not sure that FIFA have actually approved a fifth generation sports pitch or even a fourth generation sports pitch and would be interested in feedback on this because to me just seems to be a marketing tool for football clubs to just go out saying ‘Yes i now have the newest pitches available and have a 6th generation football pitch’ etc.
On the websites explaining the 5th generation sports surfaces it claims – ‘The surface, known as fifth-generation rubber crumb, differs from other artificial pitches in that the “grass” is longer and the filler is rubber, not sand.’
I would like your feedback on this matter because just seems wrong to myself that people are claiming to have a sports pitch that actually is only a 3G synthetic turf surface but claiming it to be FIFA approved 5G flooring. Please comment on this article with your thoughts??
Obviously this post was dated from back in July 2012 so soon the 5th generation synthetic turf carpet will be passed but just interested in feedback with what the latest innovation is actually going to be – is it difference in pile weight, pile height, amount of infill, sub base difference or maybe the shockpad varied.
