FIH Hockey is a sport which is becoming more and more popular in England and the UK. This is due to the extra coverage from the London 2012 Olympics and funding from Sport England and the National Lottery. The sport is governed by the FIH or Federation of International Hockey has standard pitch dimensions of 91.4m x 55m with 75mm wide lines and is often played on sand dressed, sand filled or water-based pitches of artificial synthetic all-weather manmade grass.
These surfaces require an ongoing maintenance schedule, either planned with regular visits or regular proactive or reactive maintenance when required and these can help to maintain the playing performance of the system. However, when these works are not completed, the surface can suffer from a number of complaints. Hard surfacing underfoot, infill contamination, poor porosity with poor drainage, slipperiness and algal squidge contamination.
These occur when the surface is struggling with retained moisture and attack from the local nature and a common cure for this is the extraction of the contaminated sand infill and the replacement with clean round dry silica sand. This rejuvenation, renovation and upgrade will improve the drainage and surfacing porosity, improve the playing conditions and restore the anti-slip properties of the hockey surface. We have designed, specified and installed many hockey surfaces in many different locations and schools and sports clubs now look to have specialist hockey facilities constructed.
These can be built in many locations throughout the UK and England and we can offer numerous different maintenance packages like Weekly, Monthly and Yearly packages tailored to suit your project needs. Please call us on 01625 445760 or fill in our contact form to speak to an expert.
