Long jump is an athletic event which is enjoying a renaissance in the UK and this is due to the increased coverage from the London 2012 Olympics, extra and continued funding from UK Athletics and Sport England and increased participation from schools, colleges and local sports clubs.
Long Jump Runway Surfacing
Long jump runways and landing pits can be specified, adapted and designed to meet different requirements of the clients as the actual designs can be altered to suit clients’ needs. Recreational standard landing pits can be constructed from as little as 6m x 3m with a sand depth of 300mm of clean dry silica sand. IAAF or UK Athletics standard long jump landing pits require a minimum size of 9m x 3m, filled with 500mm of sand. However, these sizes can be changed to suit individual area locations, sizes and budgets. The high school long jump runway can be built or constructed with sizes of 40m x 1.22m and built from recycled rubber EPDM Polymeric systems. This is a rubber crumb mixed with a PU Polyurethane binder and applied to the sub base with a trowel.
