Javelin Run Up has a standard surface which is used throughout the UK. Javelin has recently seen more participation take place and this may be down to Olympic Games motivation and people trying more and more sports.
Many schools and clubs are now offering javelin as an athletics event. We can offer a range of different athletics surfaces to suit recreational and professional facilities.
Javelin Runways have standard dimensions that will be UK Athletics and IAAF approved. However, we can adapt any Javelin runways in schools and clubs to fit with most budgets, designs and costs. The standard javelin run up dimensions is a minimum length of 30m with a maximum length of 36.5m. It has a width of 4.3m with the application of 50mm white lines.
What is the Runway Made From?
The Javelin run way is made from Tartan surfacing but other people may know this as Polymeric rubber or sprayed EPDM rubber. The construction also allows for the addition of an 8m radius throwing arc and 2 parallel white lines which are 4m apart. Funding is now becoming more readily available from Inspired Facilities or Sport England.
There are plenty of different design options available and we can create a bespoke specification. Some schools prefer to have multisport synthetic turf as this offers a softer surface. It comes in a range of colours and is great for primary school practise areas.
