How Long is a Pole Vault Pole?
Poles lengths vary between 3.05 m (10 ft 0 in) and 5.30 m (17 ft 5 in) poles.
Pole Vault can be constructed to suit different designs or specifications and it can still meet IAAF, NFHS or NCAA minimum requirements. Pole Vault has a standard run up distance of 40m with a width of 1.22m. The run up or runway is built using a Polymeric EPDM recycled rubber surface which is bonded together with a PU. The pole vault run needs a lateral inclination of 1:100 and an overall inclination in the running direction of 1:1000. Pole vault also has a standard landing cushion of 5m x 5m (25m2).
The pole vault run up box also has standard specifications or design of 1.084m in length, 600mm width at the front end and shaped to 150mm at the bottom. The design of the system, depending on the specification, will affect the overall castings but grants are now available from Sport England and Inspired Facilities, especially on the back of the UK Olympic Games.
