Type 1 MUGA is a macadam colour coated system with the primary sport as tennis. The slip resistance needed to be achieved is TRRL 60.
Type 2 MUGA is a macadam colour coated system with the primary sport as netball. The slip resistance needed to be achieved is TRRL 75.
The coatings used are water based acrylic paint and polyurethane paint and the intensity of use and slip test determines the correct type for the sports on the multi use games area.
Type 3 MUGA is a polymeric surface that consists of a 9mm depth SBR base course shockpad which then has a 3mm spray applied EPDM wearing course with binder and anti slip properties to meet the slip resistance of TRRL 75 which is primarily used for netball.
Type 4 MUGA is a polymeric system that consists of a 12-15mm depth EPDM wearing course (1-4mm rubber granule), mixed with a polyurethane resin binder. The primary sports is football & basketball and the anti slip resistance needed to be met is TRRL 55.
Demarcation can be made utilising different colours or line marking. The different colours can be applied with the application of the anti slip paint and these come in a selection of colours with red and green being the standard range.
